On Sunday, May 18, 2025, our Bishop Prof. John Rugira delivered a powerful and transformative message centered on the theme "Gusiga Ibyakera Inyuma" (Leaving the Past Behind). He reminded us that spiritual growth requires a deliberate decision to break free from the weight of past mistakes, guilt, and regrets. Drawing from Itangiriro 17:4-6, Bishop Rugira highlighted God’s covenant with Abraham—how God changed his identity and promised to make him a father of many nations. In the same way, God invites us to step out of our past and into the new identity and purpose He has for us. He emphasized that in Christ, we are given a fresh start and a divine calling that goes beyond our past failures. Just as Abraham received a new name and a new future, we too are called to embrace the transformation that comes through God’s promise and grace. Pastor Rugira encouraged us to walk in faith and obedience, leaving behind anything that no longer aligns with God’s vision for our lives. His message was a strong call to live in the freedom and purpose found in Christ, knowing that our past does not define our future. Through faith and surrender, we can boldly step into the new life God has prepared for us.
